About Dr. Crabb
Background
My name is Dr, Tanya Crabb. I am a licensed clinical psychologist. I am also a first-generation college graduate, Jamaican immigrant, Marine Corps Gulf War veteran, wife, mother, and woman of color. All these identities speak to who I am and help shape the way I see the world.
I've created and facilitated groups on a variety of mental health topics including groups for womxn and girls, veteran groups, and superhero stress management and relationship management groups. Other group topics including diversity issues, parenting, communication, and resilience.
Counseling Approach
I am a passionate advocate of mental health. I believe in treating clients with warmth, empathy, genuineness, and non-judgmental positive regard. I believe therapy is collaborative and that although clients are striving to live their best lives overcoming personal history and trauma sometimes requires support.
I believe good therapy is a gym, not a spa. The goal of effective therapy is to get stronger and to gain the tools and insight necessary to live a healthier life. As a clinician, I value and hope to embody authenticity, integrity, and compassion. I believe a better life is possible with the principles of strength, hope, humor, and encouragement. I would be honored to walk with you on your journey to a stronger you.
Education & Training
I earned my B.A. in Psychology from the City College of New York. I received my masters and doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology from the Hawaii School of Professional Psychology. My clinical areas of interest include working with trauma survivors, military veterans, women, marginalized populations, and issues related to race and diversity.
I am licensed as a clinical psychologist in Nevada and Washington State. I also currently practice telepsychology in Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia under the authority of PSYPACT.
Emotional wellbeing is just as important as breathing is.
